Contest Rules and Guidelines
- Eligibility –
Open to all amateur and professional photographers. Participants don’t have to reside on Kodiak Island.
2. Submission Deadline-
All entries must be submitted by September 15th, 2025
3. File Format & Size –
Submissions must be in JPEG or PNG Format, with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI. File size should not exceed 10MB. Name your files in the following order: imagedescription_lastname_2025Category
4. Submission Process –
Photos must be submitted via email to crd@kodiakchamber.org. Include your name, contact information, and the category for each photo. Files larger than 25MB can be shared in a Zip File or using a cloud storage service preferably Google Drive or Drop Box.
5. Categories: Each participant may submit multiple photos in any category of their choice, with no requirement to enter every category.

- Chamber Events – Crab Festival/Parade, ComFish, Business After Hours, Ribbon Cuttings, Annual Dinner, Coast Guard Appreciation Dinner, Clean-Up Day, Litter Patrol, Candidate Forums
- Coast Guard – ships, planes, helicopters, fire trucks, events, members in uniform, aviation exercises
- Commerce – storefronts, shopping, groceries, good, restaraunts, municipalities
- Alutiiq Culture – dancers, artifacts, inside of museums, cultural events
- Fishing – Commercial fishing boats, fish processing, harbor photos, people fishing, bears fishing, catch of the day
- Outdoor Adventures – camping, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, surfing bonfires, sunrises & sunsets, the Aurora’s, 4 wheelers, side by sides
- Scenery – City-scapes, neighborhoods, landscapes, windmills, buildings & downtown Kodiak. Nature-scapes: Wildflowers, berries, mountains, boat harbors, bunkers, Kodiak landmarks, etc.
- Transportaion – fishing boats, ferries, float planes, Alaska Airlines, cruise ships, etc
- Wildlife – bears, foxes, bison, horses, birds, otters, deer, elk, mountain goats, whales, orca, sea lions, etc.

6. Copyright –
Participants retain full copyright of their images, but by entering the contest, they grant the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce the right to use the photos for promotional purposes, with proper credit given to the photographer. Participants must complete the KCC Photographer Release Form, email chamber@chamber.org to obtain the form.
7. Entry Limit-
Each participant may submit multiple photos in any category of their choice, with no requirement to enter every category.
8. Original Work-
All Photos must be the original work of the participant. No watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices, should be included on the images.
9. Editing-
Basic editing such as cropping, color correction, and exposure adjustment, is allowed.
10. Judging –
Photos will be judged on creativity, originality, and relevance to the category by a panel of judges, Winners will be announced in early- mid November
11. Prizes –
Prizes will be awarded for the top three photos overall, as well as for winners in each category.
12. Disqualification –
Photos that do not adhere to the rules or are deemed inappropriate will be disqualified.
